Spring on the Poetry Pole

"We were taking a walk
And what did we find
But a poetry pole
With Ma's poem inside."

Tulips outside my front door.
Lilies in my neighbor’s yard.
Pink and white rhododendrons
emerging from their buds.
Crocuses lined up like purple soldiers
waiting for a drill.
New brides yawning,
stretching toward the sun.
                                  - Esther Altshul Helfgott
from Tree Walk Book, Summer 2005

"Yay, Ma!
Woof to you."

Thank you Kelly E Sweet
